“Why Pushing For Preconception Weight Loss Is More Likely To Harm Than Help”

September 14, 2022

I love this article because it breaks down the myths around weight loss for folks trying to conceive, and redirects them to the behaviours we know promote good health and fertility – physical activity, nutrient density of their eating and reducing stress levels. When we remove the weight and diet shame during preconception, we can better help individuals and couples be their healthiest whether they’re working to conceive naturally or are undergoing treatment! It also allows dietitians to help them focus on the goals that are valuable to them, versus based on outdated information and ideas around weight.
