Incredible news from the USA – the FAD has approved a new pill for postpartum depression.

There are many safe and effective treatments available, but this is news because: 1. It is the first oral medication intended for postpartum depression. (Current drug treatments consist of general medications not studied specifically for postpartum women.) 2. It works quickly and can be taken for only 2 weeks–which feels a lot easier for many new moms 3. “If there is a drug for it, it must be real”: The development of Zurzuvae validates for many women who have PPD that their suffering has a real biological cause.

Note: this medication is not yet available in Canada.
